I am having this exact same problem all day today. When I lock my screen (or when it locks auto) I do the following:
Move my cursor, the login prompt appears. I enter p/w, it displays my desktop for a split second and then brings me back to the login prompt again. After entering p/w again it now lets me back in the desktop as per normal. I am on Ubuntu 10.04. Has there been a fix for this?
