Public bug reported: Binary package hint: compizconfig-settings-manager
OS: Ubuntu 10.04.1 64 bit HARDWARE: AMD Athlon X2 5000 3 Gb RAM NVIDIA 8600GT propretary drivers enabled and full functionally Motherboard: M2N-E NOTES BIOS: Cool 'N Quiet function enabled Last firmware updated to Deceber 2010 PROBLEM Sometimes, when Ubuntu is stressed by heavy load, it crashes (freeze). No text console or GDM restart could be executed..only Hardreset... I've noted that this bug affects ubuntu only when Cool 'N Quiet function BIOS was enabled (CPU frequency modulation). In last line of Kernel log was present: kernel: [ 113.500027] Clocksource tsc unstable (delta = -69064579 ns) I've noted that this problem perhaps affects even Microsoft Windows when Cool 'N Quiet was installed because also in that case a strange "blue death screen" appears in similar conditions. I believe this is a BIOS or Hardware problem. Any ideas about it? Most probably it's an "external" OS bug, but I would to report this "bug" to contribute Ubuntu community. ** Affects: compizconfig-settings-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/694696 Title: AMD cpu Cool 'n Quiet enabled problem.
