Nagajar, I just fixed few more bugs (reported upstream) in modem-manager and uploaded the patched version to my ppa. Now my LW273 modem is working like a charm. Try upgrading to the latest version from my ppa. BTW, I am not sure what's happening in your case but I haven't faced any such issue since I started using this device.
