I found this similar bug report here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/627862 that exactly describes my version of this bug, I urge people to read the symptoms of that bug report and subscribe to it only if it exactly fits your version of the mouse pointer freeze problem.
