Most likely this has something to do with not being compiled to run 64-bit natively.
Totally false, MkS is developed on a 64bits linux machine (Kubuntu 10.10 64Bits to be exact) ;) I will investigate this bug, but the best way to have bugs fixed is to report it to the proper team... Ubuntu is not responsable of MkS project, it just package it.
