The actual command was doing the right thing, so the other arguments were definitely ok (and *thank you* for the tool - even the semi- automated setup I was able to get working was orders of magnitude better than manually finding and selecting the new files that needed converting).
I didn't really spend much time experimenting with just "--autostart" on its own, so it is possible there was something else wrong with the command line I passed in that time (although, the operation did work - I just needed to press OK and Start to get it going).
