I can now for sure say that there is definitively a sound distortion, happening on rare occasions, seemlingly random and therefore hard to track, when using the current libxine-main1 1.1.1+ubuntu2-7.7 from Dapper/security for playing mp3s with Amarok on my system, that has not been there with prior versions of libxine-main1.
