Hi, I confirm this. Rhythmbox stopped working with my old ipod 2g silver after i had upgraded to maverick. I also confirm that the rhythmbox in Debian sid from EXPERIMENTAL repository, works.
The symptom used to vary. But after a few upgrades to ubuntu, or because iTunes has done something to the ipod, at this time, rhythmbox is able to recognize the ipod, put an icon on the lateral panel, but it cannot list the contents. When I try to add something to the ipod, nothing really happens, even in the --debug output. ( Fortunately, this action no longer corrupts the ipod. ) Perhaps only the last few lines of the debug report is useful, so i pasted them here: found device path /dev/sdb for mount /media/the_ipod found ID_MEDIA_PLAYER tag apple-ipod for device /dev/sdb device information (system database) information read from system device database model: iPod vendor: Apple filesystem uuid: DE23-2DB8 drive type: (none) requires eject: true access protocols: storage ipod output formats: audio/mpeg audio/aac audio/x-wav audio/x-aiff input formats: (none) playlist formats: (none) playlist path: (none) audio folders: (none) folder depth: -1 /media/the_ipod is already a mount point override file /media/the_ipod/.is_audio_player not found on mount /media/the_ipod ** Attachment added: "rhythmbox-debug-output.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/672906/+attachment/1755681/+files/rhythmbox-debug-output.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/672906 Title: IPOD SHUFFLE SUPPORT BROKEN -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
