Ivailo, I also suffer from this bug and purchased Canonical's Desktop
Support in order to procure a solution. After 9 weeks and 3 complaints
they eventually admitted that they *could not* fix it and agreed to give
me a refund. In light of this, I doubt you will get a solution here as
from my experience many of the developers present on this bug tracker
are also be employed to offer this "professional support" from
Canonical.

If it is any consolation I have found that the daily builds released by
the Debian team of their upcoming release, "Debian Squeeze", function
perfectly with the headphone jack, speakers and all other hardware on my
ASUS K50IJ. I will be switching to that distribution as soon as it goes
stable so as to avoid the embarrassment to myself and irritation to
others when I try to listen to music or watch video on my laptop.
