Public bug reported: Binary package hint: openoffice.org
I wrote a document in Open Office, then used CUPS to write a PDF file to my hard drive, then attached that PDF file to a message in gMail (www.google.com/gmail). The file uploads successfully, and I am able to download the PDF file again from my gMail 'sent' directory and view it with the Document Viewer utility. However, when I try to 'view' the file directly from the gMail website, gMail complains that the document is damaged. When I scan an existing printed document using Xsane and save the image in PDF format, I don't have this problem! It appears to me that this a disagreement between CUPS and gMail as to what constitutes a valid PDF file. But Open Office might be a contributor to the problem. I assume that resolving this bug will require cooperation from Google.com!
