Public bug reported: If you use Pidgin for IRC and want to authenticate your nickname, you need to either save your nick password or type some boring IRC command on a conversation window every time you connect.
I think that the natural way is rather show a password dialog and perform authentication from there, this way you neither feel obligated to save your password nor get disturbed with annoying server conversations popping up in your face. So I patched IRC Helper to add a new account option for enabling a password dialog. When enabled, it will hide the "you need to identify" conversation window and ask you for the nick password, then it will identify with the server in the background. If you cancel, you keep not authenticated, but still connected. ** Affects: purple-plugin-pack (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Branch linked: lp:~renatosilva/+junk/irchelper ** Branch linked: lp:~renatosilva/purple-plugin-pack/irchelper-password- dialog -- Password dialog for IRC Helper https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/682780 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
