same here with 2.6.17-11-generic.
But I got it compiling with edgy and module-assistant.
I used the module-assistant to prepare the build environment and selected
sl-modem.
After getting the sl-modem source I changed the sources in
/usr/src/sl-modem.tar.bz2.
You have to replace:
- MODULE_PARM(debug,"i");
+ module_param(debug, int, 0 );
in amrmo_init.c, old_st7554.c and st7554.c.
Then I startet the build with the module-assistant.
Maybe the other MODULE_* statements are also problematic, but I can't evaluate
this.

Can someone fix the sl-modem.tar.bz2 in the ubuntu repository?
The modules seems to be loaded.
