I'm hitting exactly this same issue when trying to install 10.04.1 on a
IBM x3550. It is really frustrating to have a brand-new server that we
are supposed to move our stuff to, and then find out that I can't
install Ubuntu on it. It looks like it will be at least a couple of
months before 10.04.2 comes out and I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do
at this point.

I tried to install 10.10 (Maverick) but it also didn't work. It didn't
detect any disks and thought I was going to install on iSCSI, which I'm
not.

Any ideas on how to get my server going, or do I need to wait a couple
of months?

This server is certified by IBM to work with Ubuntu 10.04, which is why
I bought it in the first place...
