I can confirm the problem exporting xhtml under maverick 64bit with 1:3.2.1-7ubuntu1 (openoffice.org).
I changed the temp directory to point to somewhere in the home folder. I installed openoffice.org-java-common. I tried the built in xhtml/html exporter aswell as openoffice.org-writer2xhtml. I tried sun java and GNU java.
