I have the same issue. This is definitely a problem, since in my case
this results in local partitions other than root not being mounted at
startup, including my /home/ partition. When starting, the following
message is displayed:

* Mounting local filesystems...
mount: special device /dev/hda3 does not exist
mount: special device /dev/hdc1 does not exist

I am not sure whether to change /etc/fstab or this will be fixed and
boot 2.6.20-13 until the next update.
