Hi Andrea! The latest major release of cairo is version 1.10.0; it is a recent release, 71 days old; have you grabbed it yet? It would improve the quality of your rendering test above. If you are using cairo 1.10.0 in the above test, any poor quality might be a cairo bug -- screenshots of your test above would be very helpful.
