.cobnet, you are right! Sorry, I should have posted back here. It is still flaky, if I hit Ctl+Alt+F1 to go to a virtual console, I get a black screen. Or if I restart X, by logout/login it also goes black. So in those cases and system reboot is required. If X just starts once and never again -- things are good.
