Hi Daniel, The problem has existed for awhile. If I re-load ubuntu and reformat the drive I usually don't experience it for a couple of months but in this case it was a couple of days. I would question the machine but two other machines in my household (running Edgy), experience the same thing in their own time.
Normally when the problem fist appears, Beryl and the starterbar loads but the starterbar does not appear on the screen. At this point I can see the icons for both programs on the system tray but if I try to restart the starterbar thought the menu system nothing happens. Through experimentation, I found that it was necessary to load beryl first and then the starterbar. I tried to control this by means of a script and due to the fact that I am unfamiliar with the structuring and wording for scripts I was unsuccessful. I then tried to adjust the sequence of the executions of the programs upon startup by adjusting the order value under "Sessions > Current Session". Since there is almost no documentation explaining "Who, What , Where & Why" for the controls of "Order, Style & State", this somewhat worked but left me with a new problem, (when the starterbar appears on the screen it now has a title bar and borders around it as if it were just another program being opened). I have searched through the forums on the net but by all appearances I the only one having this problem. If you have any suggestions I am all ears. I thank you for your time and consideration.
