Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

When playing a song in totem, the audio starts in Stereo mode even when the
menu item says it's in 5.1 mode. The sound settings are configured correctly
for the rest of the system.
This can be 'solved' by setting the totem audio mode to Stereo (manually in
totem) and then back to 5.1 mode. A warning is displayed 'An error occurred The
stream is in the wrong format.' Playback of the audiofile is stopped
immediately, but playback can be started again (pressing play), the sound being
played over 5.1 mode succesfully.

System details;
---
Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat x86_64 (2.6.35-22-generic)
Totem 2.32.0-0ubuntu1
GStreamer 0.10.30
gstreamer0.10-alsa 0.10.30-2

---

I can supply more specific info if needed, but since i'm not really sure
whether Totem, Gstreamer or some transitional Alsa/Totem/Pulseaudio
package is to blame, i'll post them on request.

** Affects: totem (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
