Thanks for the rapid response. You seem to be running a version of abiword from a ppa. Xubuntu 10.10 includes abiword 2.8.6-0.1 by default. Could you remove the ppa version and try the one in the repositories? I am not able to reproduce this issue using the repository installed AbiWord.
