I forgot to say that I have an ATI x1250 card and use the free radeon dtivers.
The "ia32-libs_20090808ubuntu9+maverick~xorgedgers2_amd64.deb" package from "xorg edgers" PPA Repository solves the problem definitively. Be careful. Do not add the repository.
