Hello Raghuveer, thank you for taking the time to file this bug report and help us make Ubuntu better.
This error is rather puzzling: Setting up bind9 (1:9.7.0.dfsg.P1-1) ... Adding group `bind' (GID 128) ... Done. Adding system user `bind' (UID 121) ... Adding new user `bind' (UID 121) with group `bind' ... Not creating home directory `/var/cache/bind'. wrote key file "/etc/bind/rndc.key" # chgrp: cannot access `/var/run/named': No such file or directory dpkg: error processing bind9 (--configure): subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 As /var/run/named is actually included as an empty directory in the package. Can you try removing and re-installing the package sudo dpkg -r bind9 sudo apt-get install bind9 you may also need to do sudo apt-get -f install To finish configuring/installing required packages. Please do this and post the results here. Marking Incomplete, pending response from Raghuveer. ** Changed in: bind9 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- package bind9 1:9.7.0.dfsg.P1-1 [modified: usr/share/bind9/bind9-default.md5sum] failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/671304 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
