Same to me.
Ubuntu 10.04 64 bit
HD 320 GB (ST332082) via USB. FS:NTFS

Unable to stop drive
Error detaching: helper exited with exit code 1: Detaching device /dev/sdh
USB device: /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.7/usb2/2-1/2-1.4)
SYNCHRONIZE CACHE: FAILED: No such file or directory
(Continuing despite SYNCHRONIZE CACHE failure.)
STOP UNIT: FAILED: No such file or directory

The same problem doesn't happen with others USB HD (at least not NTFS).
Maybe a NTFS problem?
