I have installed 10.04 on the system I could not get sound with 10.10 and there is still no sound.
right now, that means that blacklisting intel_ips is a valid workaround for other systems, and that the pci sound is questionable in both 10.04 and 10.10. I will make available any further information I have. Ubuntu?
