I've backported ntfs-3g 2010.8.8 and fuse 2.8.4 from Maverick (took them from http://packages.ubuntu.com) and now it looks like the system doesn't freeze anymore, but the performance is vastly lower than it was with the original Jaunty packages. I had xfer speeds like 6.5 MB/sec when moving from ext3 to ntfs, now I only have 2.5MB/sec. :( I yet have to check how Transmission behaves now on huge torrents.
For anyone interested how to backport the packages, do the following: 1. Go to packages.ubuntu.com, find the most recent package, copy the link for the .dsc file for it 2. Run: dget <the_copied_URL> dpkg-source -x <filename.dsc> cd <package_source_dir> dch -i 3. Edit the log 4. Run: dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot cd .. sudo dpkg -i *.deb Usually this goes smoothly enough. It may require some additional packages, but it's quite obvious how to resolve such issues. :) -- Huge CPU usage by mount.ntfs process https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/392204 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
