Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because it
seems that the update-initramfs run completed successfully.
The created /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/splash seems invalid, fix with:
sudo echo FRAMEBUFFER=y > /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/splash
sudo update-initramfs -u
