I had this problem, and I was not using Gnash on 10.04. The flash plugin appears to work with the google chrome browser. I did sudo apt-get purge flashplugin-installer and then sudo apt-get install flashplugin-installer and it now works with both browsers. Please let me know if I should provide more info.
