Apparently the problem still exists in maverick. There are several
people talking about it in the forums:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1595196

I am also experiencing freezes on 10.10 when running on battery. With
10.04 I never had that problem. The problem started the same day I
upgraded so I don't think is a hardware issue.

I cannot see any error on the logs. The computer just freezes and won't
even respond to a REISUB. The freezes are very random, from just a few
seconds after logging in to several hours

I do get many of these (1 each 5 seconds)
Oct 19 02:19:10 ubuntu kernel: [ 9147.643059] intel ips 0000:00:1f.6: CPU power
or thermal limit exceeded

but my computer is not hot at all:
santi...@ubuntu:~$ sensors
acpitz-virtual-0
Adapter: Virtual device
temp1: +26.8°C (crit = +100.0°C)
temp2: +0.0°C (crit = +100.0°C)

I have a dell studio 1558
intel i3,
intel integrated gpu
broadcom wifi
64bits OS, 10.10 (upgraded from 10.04.Not a fresh install)
