Same problem here. I did a fresh installation of maverick 64-bits and the left click of the mouse get stuck randomly and makes it unusable. I have to unplug it to get the touchpad work and if I plug it again the problem gets back and the left button is stuck.
This don't happen on terminal console with gmp so definitively it is a xorg problem. I downgraded to xserver-xorg-input-evdev_2.3.2-6build1_amd64.deb as suggested and the problem is fixed.
