I am using 10.4 and Gwibber 2.30.2. Comment #19 also worked for me. I used firefox, had facebook in one tab after choosing a username (I did not need to logout and log back in with my new username), and just logged in using my username in Gwibber. Note that the authorization success screen (attached) is different when I used my username instead of my email,.
