Thanks Bruno (#14).  This worked for me with 10.10 on an Eeepc 1001HA.
Everything had worked well with Lucid UNE but on installing Maverick I
had limited network connectivity and couldn't shutdown, hibernate or
suspend without freezing.  Any attempts to disable networking also
caused the machine to freeze.  Blacklisting the various modules as per
your post has got wireless working and I'm able to shutdown gracefully.
