I wish this had worked as well for me as it did for you, I am running ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat (upgraded from Lucid) 64bit on a geforce 9600gt with 4gb of RAM and a 2ghz core2duo processor on a nforce motherboard. I seem to remember having some issues with plymouth on Lucid at first but soon got them sorted.
Since the upgrade I only get the text based theme in plymouth and the above fix didn't work for me, does anyone else have any suggestions for me to try?
