Ok, as I'm testing the preferences always shows and goes away properly,
I can confirm it leaves a defunct process but it'll kill this every time
the preferences are invoked.

The problem here is that after the signal is called responding to the
window close it goes ape for no reason at all, I can't debug why as it
appears to be very very deep inside python.

I can't get the "No input window" to change into a list of input methods
:/ this means there are other problems...
