My symptoms were:

sudo ifdown wlan0 ; sudo ifup wlan0 would work

physically unplugging / plugging would not work.

After most recent upgrade (2007-04-02) it looks like I could:

 1- remove "wlan0" lines from /etc/network interfaces

2- remove the "old" network-monitor panel applet

3- use the System->Networks menu to set up my wlan0 device properly
(once it was plugged in)

4- click the "checkmark" to the left of the wlan0 device and it would
properly connect to network

I hadn't tried plugging / unplugging the stick after I'd gotten it to
work, but marked fixed (or something similar) because I was able to get
a network connection w/o sudo ifdown / ifup. What are your steps to
fix?
