I haven't used Transmission in quite some time because I have been focusing on other problems/bugs/life, however, I discovered today that Transmission STILL causes a kernel panic on my T42 Thinkpad after a random amount of time. Sometimes it's 5 minutes, sometimes it's and hour and happens regardless if the computer is being used or not.
Oddly enough the kernel panic does NOT seem to occur when the laptop is on battery, but the battery is old and only lasts for about 30 minutes so I have not extensively tested that. This problem is something that happens 100% of the time and is completely reproducible: Make sure laptop is on AC power, Open Transmission, wait some time, watch it crash and burn (KP). Clockwork. This is with a very nearly "stock" and fully up-to-date install of Ubuntu (Maverick RC) with no other running applications and no settings in Transmission have been changed. $ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu maverick (development branch) Release: 10.10 $ apt-cache policy transmission transmission: Installed: (none) Candidate: 2.04-0ubuntu2 Version table: 2.04-0ubuntu2 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/universe i386 Packages This problem has rendered Transmission completely useless for use on my Thinkpad! ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => New -- Transmission causing a kernel panic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/617085 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
