Found it:

filename: /lib/modules/2.6.31-22-generic/kernel/sound/acore/snd.ko

      ^^^^^
In the original Ubuntu installation, this file is instead in:
/lib/modules/2.6.31-22-generic/kernel/sound/core/snd.ko

("core" instead of "acore". See http://packages.ubuntu.com/karmic-
updates/i386/linux-image-2.6.31-22-generic/filelist )

I don't know from where the "acore" file originates, but it is not in standard
Ubuntu repositories, and it prevents your sound system from working.
If the file is from a package, the output from "dpkg -S snd.ko" might help you
- if the "acore" file shows up in the results.
