I have plugged my BOse Companion 5 system into my macbook pro running
10.04.  I have Googled and found this forum post on ubuntuforums which
said to select USB in the System -> Preferences -> Sound.  No such
option exists on my end.  I have attached all of the log files which you
stated below adding the output of lsusb -v so that you may see that my
Bose system is seen there.
