Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-volume-manager
For drives that are auto-mounted via gnome-volume-manager (such as USB HDDs), when the system is shut down, the mount point is not deleted. This is clear through the following (frustrating) example: After boot, I plug in my USB HDD. It is mounted to /media/LABEL. Now I shut down. The mount point (/media/LABEL) still persists as a folder. When I boot up again, and plug in the USBHDD, it is now mounted to /media/LABEL_ (note the underscore). This behavior wreaks havoc with automated backups, as they continue to backup to /media/LABEL, thus flooding /. Please make gnome-volume-manager responsibly delete all the mountpoints that it creates, on shutdown. Note that simply running rm /media/* isn't a good solution, since I have other persistent folders in there that I use. Thanks! Have a great day! ** Affects: gnome-volume-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: backups hdd mount point usb -- mount point not deleted on shutdown https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/644548 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
