I agree with that sentiment. Having recently used Ubuntu (and opensuse)
on a connection that required proxy settings I was surprised to find
that the "universal" proxy settings don't seem to apply to very many
programs. It seems to me that it defeats the purpose of having a
universal proxy setting if you still have to configure multiple programs
individually.
