Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ubiquity
Today I grabbed the latest netbook edition live CD, burned the CD to media, and booted the CD. When prompted by the installer as to whether I would like to try Ubuntu or install it, I selected the option to try Ubuntu Netbook out. The installer sounded like it was reading from the CD for a moment, and then it stopped. The "busy" pinwheel mouse cursor was present and did not disappear after 10 minutes of waiting. The installer screen that presents you the try/install options did not disappear. The live desktop (obviously) never loaded. I was, however, able to use the menu in the upper right corner of the screen to restart. I tried booting from the CD twice, with the same results. I verified the CD's (data) integrity before booting from it. I am trying this out on an HP Compaq 8510w laptop with nVidia Quadro graphics and 4 GB of RAM. Yes, not a Netbook, but previous Netbook editions have booted before. 1) Ubuntu Release: Ubuntu Netbook Edition 10.10, Daily Build 9/18/2010 2) Package version: Unsure, whichever is included in that day's Daily Build 3) What I expected: I expected to see the live desktop after clicking the try Ubuntu option and waiting a few moments. 4) What happened instead: The live desktop never loaded. I was stuck on the installer screen. Was able to use the power menu to restart (in other words, the menu was responsive, so the PC didn't "freeze" per say). ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: ubiquity -- Ubuntu Netbook does not load Live Desktop enviroment when attempting to test https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/642512 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
