Update: Following the error noted above I cancelled the install and shutdown the liveCD from the main menu. Now when I go to boot the system it fails to boot. I just see the following
Grub loading, please wait... Error 22 So it looks as if the installer got as far as erasing the existing OSs. Not sure how relevant this is I just thought I'd add it for completeness of information.
