Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pm-utils
When the script /usr/lib/pm-utils/power.d/hardrive is run and the system contains an SSD not a HDD and error can occur. On SSD systems we should not be passing -M to hdparm as the acoustic management setting is not valid. On my SSD calling hdparm with -M causes the ATA drive to reset with the following error in kern.log kernel: [ 19.010138] ata1.00: exception Emask 0x0 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x0 action 0x6 frozen kernel: [ 19.010151] ata1.00: failed command: SET FEATURES kernel: [ 19.010160] ata1.00: cmd ef/c2:00:00:00:00/00:00:00:00:00/40 tag 0 kernel: [ 19.010161] res 40/00:fe:00:00:00/00:00:00:00:00/40 Emask 0x4 (timeout) kernel: [ 19.010173] ata1.00: status: { DRDY } kernel: [ 19.010181] ata1: hard resetting link ** Affects: pm-utils (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Setting acoustic management on SSD fails https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/639745 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
