On Feisty [amd64] this problem is still there. I have a Samsung ML1210 which worked perfectly fine under Dapper. I skipped Edgy and I am now also noticing the same bar on the test page as well as faulty printed images when I tried to print those on my clean Feisty install!
However I have not installed the foomatic-filters-ppds package, so the error seems to be somewhere else. Trying to install the Dapper footmatic-filter-ppds (as on Dapper printing is fine) does not solve the problem (since I was not using foomatic filters before?). I will further investigate this later on, and try to replace some packages with older packages from Dapper. If I can be of any help, or try things for the bug hunting team, I'd like to do so.
