Yeah, I find that the resume time varies. Some times I find myself toying with the screen brightness keys in order to get my backlight going again from a suspend.
I'd still say my resume times average about 10s though. It feels kinda long compared to OSX, but I think it's tolerable. But, if someone hates it enough, they can always figure out a great fix.
