  This is a strange bug, as it cropped up when I opened a file in Gedit.
  Not too strange, however, as I had the Embedded Terminal plugin enabled
  (but not turned on at the moment) and I use zsh as my default shell.
  
  Indeed, reopening the file reproduces the bug, but turning the plugin
  off beforehand makes it go away.
