Assuming your observation about the temperature alarm is relevant, some more
information about your system might be useful. Can you tell me make and model
(particularly if it's a notebook)?
Is there an obvious difference (audible difference in fan speeds, for example)
between 9.04 and 10.04?
Also, some more info is necessary to try and debug this. Could you please
1) attach the file /var/log/messages
2) open a terminal, run cat /proc/cpuinfo and paste the output
