I have an Intel DP55WG desktop motherboard. Whenever Ubuntu is supposed
to reboot the computer, the motherboard always has trouble rebooting.
Most of the time when rebooting, after Ubuntu shuts down the system's
power LED and fans go off for a few seconds. Then the system starts up
but the BIOS reports that it failed to POST. This is a significant issue
because the system will not continue booting as it asks for user input.
I just tried to restart the system again and instead as it was shutting
down, the Ubuntu splash screen was displayed (and frozen) while the
power LED was off (never happens normally.) It stayed in that state for
over 30 seconds until I rebooted the system with the power button.
This has occured in 10.04 and 9.10. I am using the Intel latest BIOS,
5531. There was never a point in time when Ubuntu Linux did not suffer
from this problem. Windows (7) does not have this problem at all.
