It does not work for me. I still need to boot with nomodeset. I have not seen any new packages of xserver-org-video-intel for a while and https://code.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel indicates that already for 5 weeks there is no activity in the code archive.
