It looks like the aforementioned branch is now merged into trunk, so
you can checkout trunk and see what you think.  I personally am not
sold on the change, if prelight effect is sought i think something
subtle in the bg would be nicer.

Anywho, we should await mpt's feedback before marking this bug as fixed.
