Public bug reported: Trying to update to the latest Java .... but the install program never ran properly .....
The screen got a vertical line straight down 2/6ths of the way across it with the remnants of the enter password in part of it ...... seems like a graphics problem again .... this is the latest nvidia 256.53 But it may be related ..... got a crash earlier with it ..... but after a re boot seemed ok ...... Going to try to get the latest JRE from the synaptic repository rather than the JAVA website.
